INDIGENOUS PEOPLE'S DAY

The Eagle honored Indigenous People's Day by interviewing several local native leaders and youth from the Jicarilla Apache Nation, the Navajo Nation, and the Pueblo Communities. Click a name to listen to an interview. Jicarilla Apache Jennifer Muskrat. 

Four indigenous leaders of the Chaco Coaliton from region on the western side of Rio Arriba County, NM are featured. The panel includes Beata Tsosie Pena of Tewa Women United; Amber Carillo, a Laguna Pueblo of New Mexico Native Vote, NM Laws Coalition, and the Pueblo Council of Governors; Navajo Nation Councilman & Chairman of the Navajo Counselor Chapter Daniel Tso; and Julia Bernal of the Sandia Pueblo and Director of Pueblo Action Alliance.Chaco Coalition 

KXJR talked to Jicarilla Apache youth who won royalty competitions including six-year-old Little Miss Rodeo and her older brother who won LIttle Beaver as well as their mother Joy Vicenti.
